The Landing is a multi-tenanted commercial building. It was built in the early 1900s as a supply warehouse serving gold rush miners. In 1987, the building was completely restored to meet modern building codes and to preserve its history. This wonderful old structure overlooks Vancouver harbour and the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place.
The Landing boasts a large arched window on the north side of the ground-floor lobby. This window provides a beautiful view of Vancouver Harbour, including the Canada Place cruise ship dock. A security guard station is situated near the street-level entrance, across the lobby from the big window.
During the dark hours, some security guards have seen the ghost of a lady dressed in white. She passes through an elevator door in the lobby and walks toward the arched window. There, she stops and looks out to the harbour, then vanishes. Is she looking out in anticipation of an incoming ship? Or is she merely enjoying the view? All that’s known is the senior security guards at The Landing talk the junior ones into working their graveyard shifts for fear of seeing the white lady.
